The History of Live Karaoke!!!
It started with the bouncing ball being followed on Movie screens. It then moved on to TV. Singing along with the sound track. Always popular this sing along was usually done with a piano player.
Brian Smith the creator of Live Karaoke came up with this concept tiring to get a total audience experience. One winter Night on Staten Island. The Vanduzer bar was patronized by the Wagner college softball team. Brian Smith’s Open Mic project was playing. The girls wanted to hear songs the band couldn’t sing., The songs the band knew that were female songs needed a female singer. They sang the songs while the band played. The rest is history.
They came back week after week bringing their friends. The band really solidified when Steve Elias and Dave Milner became the back bone rhythm section. The set list is over 200 songs strong and growing
Brian Smith’s Live Karaoke band now does Private parties and plays all over the metro NYC area
